Call for Nominations for the Artists Equity AwardThe Artists Equity Award is given to those individuals who demonstrate outstanding dedication to the arts and artists. Past recipients include Governor Rendell for the Avenue of the Arts, Lisa Tremper Hanover Director fo the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College, Judy Herman, Executive Director of the Main Line Art Center, and Jane Golden for the Mural Arts Program. Artists Equity is a nonprofit business association for professional visual artists. It's mission is to advance the interests of those who work in the visual arts. AE seeks to speak as one voice for the visual artist in the communities where we live and inspire those communities to embrace living artists and their art. ARTISTS EQUITY HONORS painter Moe Brooker, for his artistic and educational achievements. For the last 35+ years, Professor Brooker has taught throughout the United States and abroad. Moe Brooker received his MFA from the Tyler School of Fine Arts, Temple University in 1972. He has taught at Tyler; The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; The University of Virginia, Charlottesville; The Cleveland Art Institute; and The University of North Carolina. In 1987 he taught the fall semester at the Tinjin College of Fine Arts, in Tinjin, China. From 1991-1994 he was Chair for the Foundation Department at the Parson School of Design, NYC. Brooker has an extensive exhibition record of both solo and group shows, he has had 30 one-person exhibitions. Presently he exhibits at the June Kelly Gallery in NYC, and the Sande Webster Gallery in Philadelphia, PA. His work is in many public collections, including The Philadelphia Museum of Art; The Woodmere Museum, Philadelphia; the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia; and many other prestigious museums. Moe Brooker is the recipient of several honors and awards, including an accepted invitation to Oxford University in the UK in 2006 and 2008. Mr. Brooker has been listed in Who’s Who In American Art since 1999. Professor Brooker presently resides in Philadelphia, where he is the Chair of the Foundations Department at the Moore College of Art & Design.In recognition of these contributions which advance the careers of fine artists, the 2010 ARTISTS EQUITY AWARD will be given to Mr. Brooker. ~~~ |
