Artists Equity Honors Marsha Moss:

Making a Difference for Visual Fine Artists

ARTISTS EQUITY HONORS MARSHA MOSS, for her service as the Director of Sculpture Outdoors.  Since the late 1970s, she has curated over 50 major exhibitions at outdoor sites and in alternative spaces in the Philadelphia area and across the country.

During the 1980s, Moss served as President of the Cheltenham Center for the Arts.  She has also done public art consulting work for corporations, universities, the Redevelopment Authority, and the municipal Percent for Art Programs.  Her experience as a consultant spans the full range of project management for permanent commissions for both architectural and environmental sites.

Moss founded the Artfront Partnership in 1993, as a member of the MayorÕs Cultural Advisory Council.  The Arts and Business Council honored the Artfront Partnership as finalist for the Awards of Excellence in Arts Management, and Arts and Business Partnership.

Moss has also served as Public Art Consultant for the Kimmel Center for the Performing  Arts.  Presently, her focus is SEPTAÕs Art in Transit Program, where she is working on integrating major permanent commissioned work into over 20 transportation centers and stations.

As an advocate for artists, Moss serves on the boards of non-profit arts organizations.  She is often chosen to present the ÒartistÕs perspectiveÓ in organizations, such as Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

In recognition of these contributions which advance the careers of fine artists, the 2008 ARTISTS EQUITY AWARD will be given to Ms. Moss.
