BEAUX ARTS BALL A SUCCESS!
Mary Kane, AE member arranged for a Beaux Arts Ball and reception for those AE members who were juried out of the AE Anniversary show at the Berman Museum. Attendees
wore costumes, enjoyed live music, good conversation, good food, and a juggler. Prizes were awarded, including solo shows for two artists Edwina Brennan and Florence Putterman. The Main Line Unitarian Church was a wonderful venue for the show. AE thanks Mary Kane for arranging the show and encourages members to collaborate for future shows. Working together we can accomplish more!
Clockwise from left to right: Elaine Bass, AE Recording Secretary; Janet Thomas, AE Member as Julia Child
and winner of best costume; Mary Kane, AE member as Big Pharma; AE President Karen Kappe Nugent and daughter Ainsley; the guests at the reception, Main Line Unitarian Church.

IN THE NEWS
ORPHAN WORKS ACT Many visual arts groups oppose the bill because it would shift the burden of copyright protection to the visual artist.
Current Status (April 8, 2009): While the Senate passed a version September 27th 2008, the House Judiciary Committee failed to act on it before the 110th Congress expired. It is not currently on the legislative calendar.
