Artists Equity Honors Thora Jacobson:
Making a Difference for Visual Fine Artists

ARTISTS EQUITY HONORS THORA JACOBSON, for her service as the Executive Director of the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial. Their quality programs for artists have made a significant contribution to art and artists of the region.

In 1978, as program administrator, Jacobson initiated the Challenge Exhibitions at Fleisher, which have become a highly respected series for younger, unaffiliated artists in the Philadelphia area.

In 1991 and 1992 Ms. Jacobson worked with co-producers Mary Griffin and Carlota Schoolman on a series of artist residencies, performances and consultancies entitled Arranged Introductions: Art Works in Different Places.
